The ceremony will be held outdoors, at a beautiful location with strong energy — a Place of Power. The bride and groom must independently write down words of love and devotion to each other. This gesture will make their union sacred. During the ceremony, they will present those words to the shaman, along with offerings for the spirits: the sacred sage plant with its cleansing smoke, corn flour as the main food of Native Americans before contact with Europeans, and tobacco — a plant that was used for both medicinal and ceremonial purposes. There once was a wolf that lived in a great valley known by many animals. One night on an evening hunt, the wolf heard from a distance, mysterious but beautiful songs. He had never heard them before. He was so enchanted by these strange yet wonderful songs that he went to investigate where they were coming from. By half an evenings time he came upon a beautiful owl perched in a tree. For the longest time he sat looking up a the owl, listening to her songs. He had become so enchanted with her and her music that every night he would go to that same spot and listen, and every night the owl would sing to the moon and the stars for their presence.

Before I begin, I would like to clarify what a shaman is: he is the spiritual leader of a tribe, who has the ability to heal not only bodies, but also the souls of his people; he is the guardian of traditions and spiritual heritage, as well as a guide into the realm of the spirits.

The Hawaiian goddess of fire, Pele, is probably the only one out of the pantheon of local deities that still lives on and is worshipped on the islands to this day. That is not surprising, since the effects of her activity can be observed on a daily basis. Her house, Halemaumau, is open to any visitor of the Volcano National park peeking inside the crater of the Kilauea Volcano.
